Thank you for publishing this blog. I have kept bettas for many many years but never wilds. I have always been interested in the species bettas. The betta books I have from years ago were all published in the 60's and 70's and I spent hours as a kid looking at the few color photos they had of the wild species. Now, at 52, I am researching in anticipation of my first foray into keeping domestically bred B. Persephone and attempting to breed them. As fins on the fish store bettas got longer and more elaborate I always looked for stock with a more wild look. Not easy to find especially before the internet. Even with the internet it is really hard to find a breeder to buy from and the reports I have read on the stock in the wild are disheartening. I have spent over a month looking and changed species only a few days ago when I found some B. Persephone available only 200 miles away. This is only the beginning and I am sure I will have to go farther to keep the genetic diversity in my fish of this rare species. The future of the wilds seems to be in the hobby. Your blog is a wonderful resource for me and others who want to do a little for the special little fish that need our help. Comments are closed.
