It took longer than I expected, but earlier today, my pair of Betta livida finally spawned. The male is busy guarding a (modest) nest of eggs, and if all goes well, these should hatch in the next couple of days.
Bad luck dictates that my camera stops working right when I need it most. Unfortunately, until the camera is working again, I won't be able to take any new photos for my blog.

Kevin, I don't have anything for sale at the moment. I've decided to see what effect these tough new import laws in Australia will have on the importation of wild bettas before I put any of my fish up for sale, as they may not be easily replaced.

In this case I would say at least over 20 fry. I find the amount of fry varies with each pair/species.

May I have your email? I am trying to breed apiapi as well. I saw my male built bubble nest many times but no fry yet. I will like to get any of your suggestion if possible. Thanks!!!

You can just ask me questions here in the comments section. It doesn't matter if it doesn't relate to the original topic.

Thanks for response. My water parameter : ph = ~6 ~ 6.5, TDS<50. Temperature = 20-22C.

Your water temperature is a few degrees cooler than what I keep my coccina complex at. Maybe try seeing if getting the water temperature up to around 24/25 degrees Celsius has any effect.

I found out the male kinda built bubble every week. I saw bubble last weekend with few white eggs @ bubble. It seems the water is ok for him to keep build bubble, but eggs didn't get fertilized. Wha't possible reason for this situation?

Perhaps it is an issue with pH? Seems like many mac breeders place great importance on pH when it comes to achieving successful spawns.

I will try to lower PH by adding more leaf see if that help. I may also switch another female when I get another trio of api next week. Thanks for all your suggestions.

No worries. Sometimes I've found pairs just don't work out for whatever reason. Hopefully you have better luck with the new female. Comments are closed.
